The SectorReady+ pre-apprenticeships developed by Southwest Missouri’s Workforce Investment Board are set for another expansion this spring, with the launch of two new programs in Early Childhood Education and Industrial Maintenance & Machining.
With childcare services in constant demand, the WIB is partnering with local tech centers and community colleges to develop another short-term pre-apprenticeship training program that will allow interested jobseekers and students to earn their Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, helping to jump-start new careers in childhood education. This program is scheduled to launch this spring. For more information, click here.
The WIB is also excited to announce the launch of an additional program this summer with a focus on machining and industrial maintenance. This manufacturing pre-apprenticeship will help our area’s machining and food manufacturing employers connect with an emerging labor force in possession of the skills and abilities they need. The curriculum and credentialing for this program are not yet finalized – the WIB is seeking additional input from employers at March’s EmployerLink roundtable scheduled for Thursday, March 22nd at Big Baldy’s BBQ in Monett at noon.
