DED tour helps connect communities with growth resources

Lamar M.C.B. Feels Like Home TourMissouri Community Betterment (MCB) and Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) completed its third year of the Feels Like Home Tours through the Spring of 2016.  Locally, Lamar and Anderson competed and earned two of those slots.

A team of professionals from a variety of state resource agencies visited five MCB communities this Spring.  During each visit they met with numerous community members to assess the needs of the community, share points of contact for resources, and recommend solutions.  A detailed, written summary is sent later for the community to utilize moving forward.  MCB staff will follow up with each community to ensure the best possible outcome.

As a volunteer counselor with the Missouri Economic Development Council and a member of rural development task force with DED, Jasen Jones with the Workforce Innovation Board participated as a state-level reviewer for both the Anderson and Lamar visits.  McDonald and Barton Counties are now Certified Work Ready Communities with linkages to upcoming workforce initiatives through the WIB.
