Multiple organizations, including high schools, tech centers, employers, and workforce and economic developers are celebrating manufacturing day this year by hosting a number of events aimed at increasing awareness of the many opportunities to be had in this vital sector of region’s economy. The Joplin Globe spotlighted a number of these in their October 2nd edition.
Southwest Missouri’s local Workforce Investment Board and associated Job Centers in Joplin, Monett, and Neosho, who offer accelerated training and certification programs for a range of trades for people who are looking for manufacturing jobs, will be taking jobseekers on tours of a number of local manufacturers, including Flex-O-Lators, Ajinomoto Windsor, and Thermal Engineering in Joplin and Carthage, as well as Regal-Beloit, Monett Metals, and PlayPower in Monett and Cassville.
Franklin Technology Center will be hosting local businesses and students on Friday with multiple presentations showcasing modern manufacturing technology and career opportunities. Carthage Technical Center and the McDonald County Chamber of Commerce are also promoting new opportunities to their students, and are coordinating tours of numerous local manufacturers who are very interested in getting the word out about their businesses and open positions.
