Job Fest turns five

The region’s largest hiring event celebrated its fifth anniversary of connecting job seekers and leading employers.  More than 60 employers and exhibitors took part in the 2016 Job Fest held January 26th with expanded space at the convention center.

Job Fest organizers implemented more research tools that provided insights on the success of the event.  More than 95% of attendees said Job Fest was helpful.  Greater than 35% of attendees are currently employed either full or part-time, confirming the degree of under-employment throughout the region.  Employers rated JobFest as 90% good to excellent.  More than 70% of exhibitors gave high ratings with the volume of attendees.

For the second year in a row, local employers received a Flag of Freedom recognition at Job Fest.  Those included Arc of the Ozarks, Access Family Care, City of Joplin, and Joplin Freightliner.  Organizations that have taken the Show-Me Heroes Pledge, and have since hired at least one veteran or service member, are eligible to receive the Flag of Freedom award. Each Flag of Freedom plaque features a subdued American flag patch worn by a Missouri National Guard soldier or airman while deployed in support of operations in Afghanistan or Iraq.

The groups making Job Fest possible includes gold sponsors, XPO Logistics and Downstream Casino. Silver sponsors were Owens Corning and the new Joplin campus of the Kansas City University of Medicine and Bio-Sciences.
